Un estudio que se realiza en Japón por el profesor Masayuki Sumida de la universidad de Hiroshima, pretende criar y reproducir ranas transparentes para mirar el funcionamiento del organismo.

Este proyecto fue inspirado gracias a un estudio que se lleva a cabo en la Universidad de Agricultura del Noreste en Harbin (China) la cual consiguió criar tres cerdos de color verde fluorescente tras inyectar proteínas de color verde en los embriones de los cerdos.
El turno en este caso es para las ranas a las cuales se les aplicara el mismo método para poder ver como se propagan las enfermedades en el organismo y tener una idea del funcionamiento en los seres humanos.
El doctor Masayuki Sumida dice que de igual manera falta un poco para que el proyecto termine con éxito ya que de 16 ranas solo una esta saliendo transparente por que lo huevos que engendran son pobremente desarrollados y es difícil mantenerse por largas generaciones.
